Favorite color resources for Fall inspiration

Hello Reader,

Do you ever find that you start to write an email to your subscribers, and it turns into a marathon effort where you're composing so many careful thoughts, you practically have a blog post?

That happens to me a lot, so I'm making an effort not to get wordy today. Instead, I'm introducing a few things, and linking to where you can read more.

First up, color!

In my opinion, every time of year is a good time to geek out about colors and website color choices... however, hue, value, and saturation are particularly on my mind as I'll be presenting next week at the global conference of Color Designers International.

So I also put together my 15 Best Resources for Choosing Website Colors for you.

Highlights include:

And here's a sneak peek of the color palette I'm using for my current client project. Warm, autumnal shades are guiding us here, and they'll work perfectly not only with this author's book cover, but the trustworthy, evidence-driven, history-based elements of his overall brand:

I have availability for one more custom website project during 2023, so if you want to launch your new Squarespace website this year, please learn more and schedule our chat as soon as possible.

Twitter + Goodreads icons in Squarespace

Quick update: if your website is on Squarespace and you are active on X (Twitter), you can now get the new X icon to display in your social media links.

The trick is to paste your "Twitter" url starting with x.com, not twitter.com

Here's the info from Squarespace, to help you.

And by the way, the Goodreads icon was added several months ago, so if you have an author presence there, pop that one in, too.

You might have missed

Blogging for SEO has been working really well for me this year. It does seem to require consistent effort, for a niche topic. So you'll usually find me writing about Squarespace for Authors, Squarespace for Consultants, and sometimes Book Marketing. You might not have seen my articles on:

Behind the scenes

  • Congratulations to Donn, who won a signed copy of All Our Lies Are True, the new release by my client Lisa Manterfield.
  • I just finished reading The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont. I don't usually love fiction where characters are supposed to be real people (I sometimes find an American author blunders their way through writing British characters and settings, or it seems like they're cashing in on famous individuals) ... but this one was pretty good. And I've just started The Seven Year Slip, which I admit I picked because it's a rom com and the protagonist is a book publicist.
  • A friend and I are hoping to do a walking holiday in England next year. We're looking for a guided group, short daily distances, and plenty of time for cream teas! If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

OK, back to work for me. Remember, if you don't want to spend days (weeks?) becoming competent with domain names, DNS, Squarespace tricks, mobile responsiveness, color choices, image optimization, CTAs that convert, SEO settings, MailerLite, ConvertKit, and code integrations ... not to mention figuring out how your website strategy fits with your marketing plan, that's why clients like you hire me.

See you soon,

Pauline

Hello Reader, There's a famous expression in Britain (or maybe it's worldwide, I'm not sure), that you wait ages for a bus, and then three come along at once. Today I'm popping into your inbox to mention a trio of conversations that I hope you'll find useful, entertaining, or both. And... there's a book giveaway, too! 1) Tomorrow (Nov 15) - roundtable discussion: Escape Marketing Overwhelm I'm taking part in this candid conversation about why business owners do too much marketing, and how to...

Hello Reader, Which website service would you like me to discount? I don't always do a Black Friday offer. I'm not a fan of the commercial frenzy that erupts in late November, and the noise in my inbox can be absolutely deafening. However. I'm running a business selling website design services, and income matters! I also have a gap in my client schedule in early December. So this year, I decided to have some fun and ask you to help me choose my Black Friday offer. I've come up with 4 options...

Hello Reader, (Pre-S: if you want me to start work on your new website November 27, please scroll down) Based on the email marketing messages I receive from "experts" who have been doing this for several years, there seem to be 2 distinct camps forming: Those who email every week, about one thing, with just one Call To Action Those who email less frequently, with several different topics and CTAs I'm pretty sure Option 1 drives better business results. After all, when I build a website, I...
