New resource: Consulting Website Workbook

Hello Reader,

I just published a new resource: a workbook that will help you plan improvements to your existing Consulting website.

Because you're on my email list, you already have free access to it. Find it inside MemberVault, with the rest of my freebies.

(Your username and password for MemberVault are initially set to be the email address where you're receiving this.)

Why a resource specifically for Consultants?

I've been doing some deep thinking this summer about my niche, the way I most enjoy working, and the type of client who is most likely to make a return on their investment by hiring me for custom website design.

To read all about that pondering, and enjoy the nifty Venn diagram I created (yes, I do love an excuse to draw overlapping circles), you can get the full lowdown here:

Behind the scenes

Wise people are murmuring that, with the increasing use of AI, human connection will be more important than ever. I'm not naturally a big "sharer", so I'm setting an intention to be a little more transparent (and human) about my work and life in general.

  • For the workbook above, I'm trying a new approach. Usually, I favor beautiful PDF files, where I'm in total control of the design. This time, I've set the workbook up as a Google doc, so that you can make a copy and fill out your own answers. I'd love to know what you think of this delivery method, and whether you currently do the same (or might try it) for any of your own resources.
  • On the other hand, for the promotional images to announce the workbook, I wanted a more enticing visual. I made the image above using a tool I love called SmartMockups.
  • Once again I'm packing my bag for a quick trip to England. So far, my extensive research into places to catch up with friends and family over afternoon tea has resulted in reservations at the Varsity Hotel (Cambridge) and Theatre Royal (London). I will report back!

Community news, inspiration, and resources

My calendar is a little constrained for the next few weeks, but if you'd like to discuss a custom website project, please do check whether we're a good match, then schedule your free consultation here. I currently have availability to work with one client in October, and one in November.

Warm wishes,

Pauline

Hello Reader, There's a famous expression in Britain (or maybe it's worldwide, I'm not sure), that you wait ages for a bus, and then three come along at once. Today I'm popping into your inbox to mention a trio of conversations that I hope you'll find useful, entertaining, or both. And... there's a book giveaway, too! 1) Tomorrow (Nov 15) - roundtable discussion: Escape Marketing Overwhelm I'm taking part in this candid conversation about why business owners do too much marketing, and how to...

Hello Reader, Which website service would you like me to discount? I don't always do a Black Friday offer. I'm not a fan of the commercial frenzy that erupts in late November, and the noise in my inbox can be absolutely deafening. However. I'm running a business selling website design services, and income matters! I also have a gap in my client schedule in early December. So this year, I decided to have some fun and ask you to help me choose my Black Friday offer. I've come up with 4 options...

Hello Reader, (Pre-S: if you want me to start work on your new website November 27, please scroll down) Based on the email marketing messages I receive from "experts" who have been doing this for several years, there seem to be 2 distinct camps forming: Those who email every week, about one thing, with just one Call To Action Those who email less frequently, with several different topics and CTAs I'm pretty sure Option 1 drives better business results. After all, when I build a website, I...
